Today's agenda notes:
-Read for 20 minutes
-No school tomorrow or Monday
-Math worksheets on fractions
-Math test on fractions - Fri Feb 23rd
-Sign and return math test
-Sick kids donation [$1-5] until Feb 23rd


After agendas we had our spelling test
The bonus words were:
1. chair
2. sharp
3. lunch
4. shovel
5. thunder

No PE today because Miss Yustin is apart of speeches.


For math today we reviewed representing equal parts of a set as fractions.

Once again we practiced together how to create fractions that are equal.

For example

We can see that in all of these the shaded parts are the same but the entire figure is different fractional parts.

Students practiced shading in equivalent fractions and writing fractions, this is their homework package for the weekend and there are some word problems as well.


After we had a snack because today is the SJA vs. The Maples Speech Competition.

We went to watch the speeches for Primary, Junior, and Senior students.
Congratulations to Julia in Miss Jaskolka's class for winning 3rd place. 

After we had lunch, then we had French with Mme. Stella. 

Then again we had a snack and recess.

When we returned we had language and writing about a toy.
-Their task was to

'Invent a new toy, make a brainstorm and then write an explanation about your new toy.'

They brainstormed first the following components and then began writing in sentences.

-Who will play with it?
-Do you like to play with it? Why?
-Where can you play with it?
-Why did you invent it?
-Are there any buttons or levers (simple machines!)
-Do you need a controller for it to work?
-Why do you like your toy?


Then we got ready for hometime.
