This weeks notes
Here are some notes for this week:
Anti-Bullying Day - Thursday Feb 22nd is Anti-bullying day. Students can wear a pink shirt to support this day. It must be pink or our school uniform. Also for this day a presentation has been arranged. The permission forms are being sent home, please return these to me along with the $3 by Wednesday.
Math test - Our unit test on Fraction is this Friday. The next two days will be spent on review.
UOI Summative - We have also started our new Unit of Inquiry on Super Simple Machines. I have sent home the summative letter, rubric, and website to help with building a machine. The e-copy has also been attached.
March lunches - 
This is a friendly reminder that there is just one more week to order for March Lunches. The deadline for March lunches is Friday, February 23rd, 2018.  After this date, our system closes and is unable to open for March ordering.  Please make sure your child is under the correct grade. http://mydigitalmailroom.com/sja  

All payments are due on Friday, March 9th, 2018.

This month's special is Pancakes with Cinnamon Apples with a side of syrup that will be available every Friday!

Payment Instructions
  • There are two options to pay for lunches. Cash and Freshbooks. 

    • Shortly after completing your order, a Freshbooks invoice will be sent to your email.
    • It may take one or two days to process your order to Freshbooks, so please be check your email diligently for the invoice.  
  • We no longer accept cheque as a method of payment.

Spirit Week
The week before March Break is Spirit Week, please have your child dressed to the following themes on each day.
Monday - PJ Day - March 5

We are looking at how the letter 'c' can make the k sound, as in colour or the s sound as in race. Also how is can make the k sound as in kick

After we worked on writing our hearts to kick start Jump Rope for Heart. Students wrote 'I am jumping for....' It could be a family, friend, or everyone. They have been posted in the auditorium!

After we had our Jump Rope for Heart event. We had so much fun jumping around. I didn't take too many pictures are I was jumping a lot!



Then we had first lunch and recess.

After recess we had math.

Today for math we looked at naming and writing fractions.

We started off reviewing past lessons and discussed how to know what number to put on top and what number to put on the bottom when writing a fraction.

Students challenged eachother to name fractions by drawing and shading fraction for them to name.

After they worked on their worksheets.



Then we had French with Mme. Stella.


After second recess we had UOI. Today we became familiar with the vocabulary relevant to simple machines. We defined the six simple machines and students had fun presenting a rap and learning some motions to go with each simple machine.

Then we got ready for home.
