For morning work today we worked on a word search with our spelling words and putting them into detailed sentences. Then we reviews math concepts of sorting into two attributes because we have the War Memorabilia presentation during some of our math time.
The two attributes we used were blue and circles. In the middle the two attributes were blue and circles!
Then we went to PE with Mrs. Jans.
After PE we had the war memorabilia presentation. We were able to look at memorabilia from the past that were used during the World Wars. It was very exciting!
We thanked our guests for allowing us to explore their memorabilia before returning to class.
For math today we used three attributes to sort data and objects.
We looked at the three looped venn diagram and choose three attributes. Blue, circles, and big. So were identified the attributes we used were colour, shape and size. We drew a big three looped venn diagram and labelled them. Then we located and labelled where to put objects that share two attributes and objects with three attributes.
We put our knowledge into play and sorted shapes using hula hoops.
We checked each section to see if the correct attributes were in the right spot!
Then we worked on our worksheet. It is for homework because our math period was cut in half so we finished the lesson first.
After it was time for second lunch and recess!
When we returned from recess we had art!
Today we explored warm and cool colours and started a fractured art activity.
We talked about what warm and cool colours are and categorised them:
Warm: red, orange, and yellow
Cool: green, purple, and blue
We watched a video about the colours and then discussed that warm colours make us feel cheerful, nice, excited, red was associated with an intense feeling and we learned it is the warmest of the warm (like fire!)
Cool colours make us feel relaxed, sleepy, and calm. We learned that blue is the coolest of the cool!
We also talked about elements of art, since it is fractured art we discussed line, shape and colour.
They were then given their worksheet to complete their animal in a fractured art design with the warm colours as the animal and the cool colours in the background.
Then we had French with Mme Stella.
After French it was time for second lunch and recess.
When we returned after recess we completed our artwork.
They are up on display! Come and see them.
