https://www.education.com/game/long-o-spelling/

Ms. Braun was covering for me today. :)
After we did daily 5.

Then we went to P.E with Mrs. Jans.

After PE we had math. Today we did math activity centres to activate our prior knowledge so we can get ready for our next unit.

One station was a spin and graph activity with questions for understanding. (Which had to most, which has the least)

Another activity was a partner sorting activity where students had to sort their shapes/pom poms/or animal shapes into venn diagrams and their partner had to guess their rule.

The third station was a Holiday spin and graph. Race to the top! We versed our partners. Each partner had to spin, and use a bar graph to document which object it landed on. The objective was to reach the top of our bar graph.

The fourth station was a worksheet where students looked at attributes of buttons and had to describe and then add or sort new buttons.

After math it was first lunch and recess.

This week's spelling words are:
1) those
2) low3) goat4) own
5) coat
6) go
7) hope
8) sold
9) over
10) ago

It all includes the long O sound. We will spend extra time practicing in class since the test is on Thursday and received the words today.

They worked on spelling in their spelling workbooks and then moved on to cursive writing.

Afterwards, we went to Music and French with Mr. Oliver and Mme. Stella.

Then we had second lunch and recess.

For UOI today we looked at a wordless picture book titled "The Arrival" We looked at each page and talked about stories of migration. After we had to write our own words for the wordless book.
I returned just before home time and tomorrow we will continue on this lesson.

We sang Hunter Happy Birthday and gave him his card, and Mr. Braun also sang with them earlier.

Then we got ready for home!

Meanwhile...I was at our flag football tournament here are a few photos of the day.

This is the co-ed elementary team! Made up of grade 6,7, and 8's!  Hoping to have some competition and matches for our younger students soon. :)
