After we had Daily 5!
Great word work and using our sentences! We just formed our "e's" backwards Oopsies!
Responding to questions. What words does the author use to help you visualise the setting?
Then we went to PE with Mrs. Jans
After PE we had math!
Today for math we learned how to transform a data set into a bar graph.
To start off we completed our data chart by filling in the missing tally marks or the number.
Again we talked about how a survey is used to collect data and that tally marks are in groups of 5.
After we began to draw our bar graph.
First, we have to draw the vertical and horizontal axis. We remembered that vertical is up and down like in columns and horizontal is side to side like rows.
Then we labelled our graph. We need 3 labels. The main title and the labels for the vertical and horizontal axis.
Then we created the scale. The scale is the numbers on the axis (it could be the horizontal or vertical axis) Two grid squares could represent one. 1 square could represent 10.
The scale is chosen to best represent the data.
We created our own graph, with the above data. (Missing some colours)
We asked: How do we know which colour Jad has the most/least of?
How many candies were there altogether? How do you know?
Rank the candies from most to least.
We created our bar graph checklist, so when we are making bar graphs we need to make sure we have all of these included.
After we received another data set and worked in partners to create our own bar graphs from scratch. We are still working on using rulers and creating straight lines. Tomorrow we will practice some more bar graphs.
We then worked on our worksheets.
After it was first lunch and recess.
When we returned we read chapter 3 of Song Lee in Room 2B.
As we read we made predictions and asked questions to check our comprehension.
When we were finished students were asked to create three sentences to summarise the chapter.
Then we went to music with Mr. Oliver and French with Mme. Stella. After French we had second lunch and recess
After recess, we worked on our science fair presentation.
We are working on a song...it's a surprise.
We recorded our observations then got ready for home!
Please remember to bring in the UOI summative interview tomorrow.
