I know there is an exciting weekend ahead celebrating Esha's belated birthday and Hunter's birthday!
Have fun!
After agendas we had Daily 5 and then went to PE with Mrs. Jans.
When we returned we had math: today we reviewed how to transfer data into a bar graph.
We created a graph together and discussed how to create the scale. This graph uses a scale of 1 box=10 people therefore half of the box is 5 people.
We asked questions about what data we can get from this graph such as:
How many people are there altogether?
How many more people like in Candyland than Chocville?
Their lines are a huge improvement!
After we went to first lunch and recess.
We continued with math after recess as today we are also looking at how to collect data. We asked:
Why would someone want to collect data? (To learn about people)
• How could you collect data? (By asking questions or taking measurements)
• How could you record the data that you collect? (I could use a table or a tally chart.)
We then discussed how we need to figure our the shoes sizes of everyone in the classroom, what question should we ask?
"What is your shoe size in cm?"
They then proceeded to ask and measure each other's shoes.
After we discussed our data. We put a star on the biggest foot and a triangle on the smallest foot.
Afterwards, we had our spelling test in (for most of us) our new spelling books!
We had some time to work on some math. If we needed some extra practice on previous topics in sorting and data management we worked on that. Or we got a head start on our homework!
Then we went to French with Mme. Stella, and second lunch and recess.
When we returned we discussed our UOI summative project.
They received their story map to transfer their interview data (DATA!) to their story board.
We went through how to write our story board and the rubric.
We discussed what to put in each board, and how to go above and beyond!
I'm excited to see how and the information they will be presenting!
Have a wonderful weekend!
