Turkey or Tofu Tuesday!

Welcome back! Hope everyone had a very special extra long weekend!

Reminder: Today is Tuesday, I know it might feel like a Monday but it's not a PE uniform day. 😅
We started our day off with agendas.

Today's notes are:
-Read for 20 mins
-Spelling pg. 22-29 (due Friday)
-Cursive pg. 21-26 (due Friday - was not sent home today)
-Math worksheet
-Trip form (for a few students)

Some students decided to take home their UOI project to work on.

After we did our morning work for Monday and Tuesday, this varies daily. Today we did two since there was no school yesterday. Monday's work included grammar with adjectives and competing sentences. Tuesday's work was math addition and subtraction.

After they went to PE.

After PE we had math. Today we looked at three types of addition strategies which included: make 10, doubles and near doubles.

We started off completing an empty addition chart and looking at patterns. They once again identified patterns in the rows, columns, and diagonals. After we looked at the patterns in doubles and noticed. that all the sums are even, and all the near double sums are odd. We also noticed that near doubles are one more or one less! I used Quinntin's sheet as an example.

We looked at combinations to make 10 as well, because 10 is a friendly number. Then we started our worksheets.

Then we had first lunch and recess.

After we had spelling. The new spelling words are on the right and I added some hints for bonus words this week. The students will be exposed to their bonus words throughout the week in class.

Here are our spelling words this week:
1. set
2. head
3. help
4. yet
5. bread
6. belt
7. tent
8. said
9. bed
10. sell

After they went to music and French, and then it was time for second lunch and recess.

After recess we had UOI. Today we worked on our summatives. Some students already had their topic chosen and for those that didn't we chose one, planned and started our project. Here is a small sample of our projects so far.

Have a lovely night!
