This morning we read chapter nine of 'A Perfect time for Pandas'.
Jack and Annie found out that they need the panda bread to save Penny!
Math - We explored the likelihood of different outcomes.
We examined a dice. Student's described it using geometrical attributes! wooo
We noticed that the opposide sides of a dice add up to 7.
We asked what are dice used for?
Students worked on making predictions of how often they would roll a number on a dice and then actually did it. They rolled 30 times. We discussed how each number is equally likely to come up, but will it actually happen when we roll 30 times?
We also looked at an example where a bag contained 3 red counters, 3 green counters, and 3 blue counters. Each colour is equally likely to come up.
After, students [in pairs] played a game called cross the river in which each partner received 10 counters of different colours. They took turned rolling a dice and if it landed on their predicted number that counter would get to cross the river. The first person to successfully cross all their counters was the winner.
UOI - Today, we learned about ways to protect the planet. We watched a short video about Charlie a Lola who were on a mission to recycly 100 items in order to receive a tree to plant. They got their whole school involved and successfully reached 100 items!
We then wrote our own ways to 'make the earth glitter.'
We started to read a book called 'One Well' to discuss ways to conserve water. Together, we read a brief part of the chapter together and students finished it in small groups. They will be working on drama skits for their given chapter.
