-Read for 20 mins
-Casual day Friday
-Math worksheet [prisms and solids]
-Spelling pg. 125-128
-UOI ACTION

For language
We had our spelling test from last week and our lesson for this week.

2a words
1. foot
2. food
3. soon
4. good
5. hood
6. noon
7. room
8. wood
9. boot
10. tooth

We are looking at words that have 'oo' and make different sounds such as noon and wood.

2b has a review lesson for the past 5 weeks of spelling words. Students are asked to make 10 sentences this week.

We also finished chapter 4 and began chapter 5 of 'A Perfect Time for Pandas.'

For math
We learned how to describe and name prisms and pyramids by the shapes of their bases. We became familiar with what faces, edges, and vertices are on 3D-solids.

A vertex is a corner.
An edge is a line segment that joins two vertices.
A face is an individual surface
.

We worked on identifying these attributes for various shapes and co-constructed an anchor chart with some shapes. Students worked in groups then shared their results.

We realised that prisms have congruent bases opposite to each other.
The base of a pyramid helps identify the name of the type of pyramid.

There are some mistakes, but we sorted out some misconceptions and discussed strategies to help us. We took up our findings after and discussed that a cone doesn't have a vertex because it does not have two straight edges that meet.
More shapes to be discussed tomorrow!

For UOI
-Rayna and Esha shared the action they took this weekend!

Rayna researched about a cotton-top tamarin she explained what it is, where it's habitats are and why it's becoming endangered.

Esha shared some strategies to help protect endangered animals.

We also started to discuss and understand the difference between endangered and extinct animals. We watched a video and read the book to discuss the terms. After we 'folded a line' and discussed with various partners the topic in the video.

Yes I am taking a picture of you! Keep talking!!!!
