Today was our field trip to Benares Historic House. We explored the historic house and learned a lot about how the family celebrated Christmas and we also learned about other celebrations in the winter. Students were split into 3 smaller groups and rotated through stations and different parts of the house.

Here we are learning about how Christmas was celebrated.

We made cookies!

You cannot eat these! They are preserved in lots of salt!

Christmas dinner!

The games room! Students saw how families kept entertained without technology!

The piano! Which played itself with the foot pedals and had the lyrics so the family could stand behind and sing along.

The children's room. We saw a stuffed owl here, some rollerskates, a dollhouse, and some toy weapons because the children's father was away at war.

In the kitchen!

We made something called crackers which children will pull apart later and inside has a surprise.

After lunch we rotated through stations to explore different celebrations that occur during winter.
