December!

Can you believe it's December already?

Today's agenda notes are:

-Raz Kids for 20 minutes
-Complete assignment on Raz-Kids
(please look in under the assignments tab - I have assigned students a book to read and answer comprehension questions)
-Math worksheet (multiplying by 10)
-Cultural flag research is due December 4th

Then we had Daily 5!

After Daily 5 we went to Physical Education with Mrs. Jans.

We reviewed the previous learned strategies for multiplication. Including skip counting by 5's an 2's.
We also had an interesting discussion: is 5x2 the same as 2x5?

Some comments were:

-The product stays the same, the difference is the factors switched.
-It can be difference because we would draw 5 groups of 2 instead of 2 groups of 5
-Or our array would also look different. (5 rows of 2, or 2 rows of 5)

Interesting thoughts!

Today's math lesson was:

Learning different strategies to multiply by 10.
We started off skip counting by 10's together

We asked
How would you find how many things are in 2 bundles of 10?

We drew a picture to solve the problem so 2 groups of 10; which is 10+10. We used a number line and also base ten blocks to see that we have groups of 10.

Reviewing all the strategies

Then we completed our worksheet. There are some homework sheets for practice on the weekend.

After, we had first lunch and recess.

When we returned we had our spelling test.

The bonus words for today's test are:
plane
please
crayon
factor
product

After we reflected on this month's learner profile: which is thinker and the attitude confidence. Throughout the month our attitude book went home and student's wrote about different people who are confident! Great job on the first month of completing our Attitudes book!

After we practiced on stage with Mr. Oliver for the Christmas Concert. Here is a sneak peek.

Then we went to French with Mme. Stella

After French we had second lunch and recess.

When we returned from recess we finished our sheet explaining our story of when we were a thinker and something they are confident in.

Then we had our Tribes time.

Finally, we handed our report cards, our UOI summatives and some book orders that came.
