Today's agendas notes are:

-Read for 20 mins
-Food Drive due Oct 26
-Book order due Friday
-Picture day tmw
-Math worksheet
-Cursive pg 30-33
-Spelling pg 31-37

Remember to get November lunch orders in this Friday.
Also, since there are lots of baked goods left we will be extending the bake sale until tomorrow.

After agendas we did our daily 5 as a class using our reciprocal reading.
We came across a few new words and used some strategies to help on figure out what they meant.
1)  We ready before and after the word, 
2)  We looked at the root word (destruction --> destruct)
3)  We broke it into syllables (landslide --> land slide)
4)  We used the glossary!

Afterwards we went to PE with Mrs. Jans.


After PE we had math, today we looked at using mental math strategies to solve subtraction problems. We used friendly numbers, adding to match the ones (because if the ones are the same, zeros the game, and subtraction the tens then counting back.

We worked in groups to solve our word problems using as many strategies as we could. For each strategy we know we are correct when all of the answers are the same for each strategy.


Afterwards we worked on our worksheet for mental math with subtraction, this focused on subtracting by 10's. 

Then we went to first lunch and recess.

After lunch and recess, we developed our anchor chart for recount writing.
Also, it needs to be in past tense!


We then went to Suffah Academy to check out their science fair!

This was really neat, they looked at the effects of coke, tea, and coffee.

Cola is quite acidic and caused the egg to crack...😱

When we came back it was time for French with Mme Stella.

After French it was time for second lunch and recess.


After recess we watched a short video called Partly Cloudy to aid our recount writing. In the video our guiding task was to keep in the the what, what, where, when, and why so that we can put it into a chart to help us when we need to write in paragraphs. 



We filled in the chart, and started off together with our opening sentence. After students worked independently to finish their writing.


Finally we handed out our agendas and got ready for home.
