SPRING FUNDRAISER!

Our annual Spring Fundraiser is fast approaching. This year our Spring Fundraiser will run from Monday, April 16 to Friday, April 20. All of the funds raised this year will go towards improving technology for our classrooms, such as LEGO robotics, 3D printers, more iPads, reading stations, and an upgrade to  the library program.

Each day that week, we will host a different activity. For $2 on Monday, students can dress like a ‘Pirate.’ On Tuesday, enjoy a bag of popcorn for $2. Wednesday is Pancake Breakfast. Order 1 pancake for $2 or 3 pancakes for $5. Gluten-free pancakes are also available! 1 gluten-free pancake for $2.50 or 3 for $6.00. On Thursday, enjoy an ice cream sundae for $5. Sundaes include two scoops of vanilla OR chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. Add a banana or apple for $1. To wrap up the week we will be hosting a dance party for $5.

Order forms were sent home Friday and will be due no later than Friday, April 13.

For students who collect a minimum of $35, they will get to enjoy a morning or afternoon at Kidsport. Please use the pledge sheet provided and be sure to turn in on a daily basis! Daily prizes for the most amount of money brought in are; bonus casual days, getting to sit at your teacher’s desk for a day, or shooting Mr. Foster with a Nerf gun. School wide fundraising targets will allow students the opportunity to give Mr. Rozario a makeup lesson or water balloon their teachers. So, get out there SJA, and raise some money!

We finished reading chapter 1 of 'A perfect time for Pandas' and asked comprehension questions
to each other.

After we had PE with Miss Yustin and when we returned we worked on our math package.
We reviewed our math concepts including
-Number patterns,
-Growing patterns,
-Patterns with 2 and 3 attributes
-Patterns on tables
-Patterns on grids
-How to write a pattern rule [e.g. start at 2, add 2 each time.]

Students worked on their review package. It has been sent home for practice and completion.

We had a fire alarm during first break which pushed back our classtime till 12:15. During our language time we worked on spelling. We are looked at how when the vowels o,  followed by r change the sound to.

Words of the week are
1. world
2. girl
3. skirt
4. her
5. first
6. worth
7. word
8. sir
9. turn
10. were

Group 2b is working on their review for the past 5 lessons, the test will be on any of these 20 words. They are asked to write 10 sentences this week for any of those words.

After students went to French and then we had second lunch and recess.

For today's UOI we started our experiment on testing the strength of different materials.
We reviewed and discussed:
What strength means? (the ability to withstand force)
What does force mean? (a push or pull)
What is a load?

These are important for our experiment. First, using the scientific method we had to make predictions of which material will hold the most amount of weight and the least amount of weight for the following variables.
1. straw
2. paper
3. stir stick
4. cardboard

We also talked about keeping our results valid, which means to keep the kleenex boxes the same distance apart each time and placing the variables at the same distance apart on the boxes.

After, students started their experiment tomorrow we will finish it!
